Resident Companion

We are seeking compassionate and friendly individuals to join our team as a Resident Companions in the NCU Manor. This will be a part time position, 12 to 24 hrs per week. This role is ideal for those who have a passion for working with seniors and wish to make a meaningful difference in their lives. Resident Companions provide social interaction, emotional support, and assistance with daily activities to ensure our residents feel comfortable, safe, and engaged. Our Resident Companions play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by offering companionship and non-medical support in their daily lives.

What you’ll be doing:
• Provide Companionship: Spend quality time with residents, offering emotional support and companionship to help alleviate loneliness, boredom and improve overall well-being.
• Assist with Daily Activities: Support residents with daily tasks such as housekeeping, laundry, meal assistance. As required minimal assistance with dressing, grooming as required.
• Engage in Social Activities: Encourage and participate in social activities to promote mental stimulation and social interaction, including games, walks, reading, and light exercise.
• Monitor Health and Well-being: Observe residents for any changes in health or behavior and report  concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Provide Mobility Assistance: Help residents attend medical appointments, recreational outings, or social activities, as needed.
• Create a Positive Atmosphere: Foster a friendly, respectful, and supportive environment, ensuring residents feel valued and cared for.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need:
• Strong empathy and the ability to connect with residents in a meaningful way.
• Good verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with residents,
families, and staff.
• Experience in caregiving, personal assistance, or companionship roles is preferred but not required.
• Given the cultural diversity of our Home, the ability to respect and promote a culturally
diverse population is required.
• Able to maintain regular work attendance including weekends and evenings as needed.
• Completes and maintains a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector
Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check, as appropriate.
• All workers are encouraged to maintain satisfactory level of immunization.

Event Assistant

We are looking for a responsible Event Assistant to provide an excellent guest and client experience in our event centre. A positive attitude, excellent communication skills, ability to maintain composure at all times under all circumstances, previous event experience is preferred along with Smart Choices certification is required.

Responsibilities:
• Works with the Event Supervisor to oversee all aspects of event execution
• Interact with client and ensure all needs and expectations are met
• Assess guests needs and preferences and make recommendations when necessary
• Train and direct event staff
• Coordinate and host some wedding rehearsals
• Ensure responsible alcohol service to guests
• Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience
• Comply with all food and beverage regulations requirements
• Available to work evenings and weekends
• Able to maintain composure under all circumstances

Qualifications:
• Previous experience in supervising, event hosting and serving roles
• Loyal and dependable with a strong work ethic.

Licensed Practical Nurse

Heritage Life PCH is looking for casual and part-time LPNs.

Accountability: Reports to Director of Care

Hours of work: Casual & Part-time Days/Evenings/Weekends as required by the needs of the organization

Qualifications:
• Current registration status with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba
• Ability to supervise and direct the work and learning of others.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and complete assignments in a timely manner
• Ability to communicate effectively with other staff, residents, families and the public and community
resource personnel
• Ability to read, write and speak English as well as to understand verbal and written instructions in
English.
• Mentally and physically able to perform duties as outlined.

Responsibilities
• Provides medication/treatments within guidelines established by HLPCH, Southern Health/Sante Sud and any other governing body.
• Develop, assess and part of the ongoing review of resident care plans which include activities of daily living, rehabilitative and restorative objectives. Maintains proficiency in use of the MDS/E-chart program.
• Respects residents rights to dignity and privacy and performs duties in a courteous and respectful manner.
• Maintains resident health care health care records and performs charting duties ensuring that records are informative, accurate and current.
• Admits new residents and orientates new staff and their families to aspects of the facility
• Supervises team members within their assignment to ensure care, services are provided as set out in the plan of care in addition to ensuring team members are working within prescribed OH&S practices and policies.
• Schedules/supports resident appointments, arranges for regular visits for the Podiatrist and other visiting professionals. Arranges transportation for residents to appointments. Prepares transfer forms as required.
• Meets regularly with the consulting Pharmacist to review all resident medication profiles and physicians
• Responsible for contacting physician with resident concerns, transcribes physician orders, ensures physician’s telephone orders are co-signed, and regularly reviews treatments with attending physicians during scheduled rounds.
• Ensures arrangements for diagnostic procedures and examinations as ordered by physician.
• Monitors the use and maintenance of supplies and equipment in the Nursing Department. Requisition supplies and equipment when necessary.
• Keeps informed of applicable legislation related to long term care, and facility policies and procedures.
– Communicates with staff through regular staff meetings.
• Participates in formal and informal teaching programs for all nursing staff as well as health teaching to residents and families as appropriate.
• Assesses all staff injuries and initiates appropriate action/treatment.
• Supports performance reviews of direct reports by providing input into performance appraisals for Health Care Aides.
• Promotes effective communication with relatives and other interested individuals as well as communication and cooperation with other departments.
• Performs all duties in accordance with the written policies and procedures of HLPCH, the facility and the
Nursing Department.
• Participates in the evaluation of care and/or service provided by the Nursing Department by developing, implementing and evaluating activities under the Quality Assurance Program.
• Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner and maintains work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
• To be knowledgeable of, and work within, the Resident Bill of Rights, Mission, Vision and Values of Heritage Life PCH.
• Works closely and cooperates with other staff and residents. Maintains good working relationships with those who work within the Campus.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Setting up tables as needed and clean up after events.
• Other cleaning duties may be assigned or required.
